Amy Carroll's "Breaking Up With Perfect"

Hello again. I know, I know... it's been quite some time since I last blogged. Whether you're a wife and mom, or not, time just slips by and there is not enough time in the day for everything. I've had to pick and choose on which Social Media sites I spend my time on and sometimes, a lot of times, I allow my blog to form tumbleweed rolling by to say a quick hi and bye. I used to blog a lot over a year ago, but then I removed all of my blogs and allowed my site to just sit and rest.

I have been getting the blogging bug a little more lately. So, with that said, I am really excited to blog about and share my interest in a book that I just ordered. It should arrive next week and I will let you know what I think about it as I read it and after I read it as well. It sounds wonderful.

The book is called "Breaking Up With Perfect" by Amy Carroll who is a writer and speaker for Proverbs 31 Ministries. She will also be hosting an Online Book Study on her Facebook regarding her book during the dates of August 1 - September 5, 2016.  I have joined her Facebook group and I am really looking forward to reading, studying, and discussing her book with her and the other lovely ladies that are joining her study as well. The link to her website is located at the bottom of this blog post.

So many of us want everything to be perfect. We want to perfect ourselves, our minds, our goals, our talents, our bodies, our marriages, our children, our Social Media pages... the list goes on and on. Well, nothing is perfect. Only God~Jesus, His Word and His ways are perfect. If we don't try and allow Him to perfect our hearts and minds daily, it can be crushing when things become heavy and well, not so perfect. I have always said that it's our actions and reactions that will make you or break you. Nothing will ever be perfect, but we really need to think about how God~Jesus wants our hearts, minds, attitudes, actions and reactions to be.

If and when we fall short, which we will, we need to remind ourselves that we are human and that it is okay to mess up sometimes, but don't remain there. Get back up and take one day at a time IN HIM!

I am one of those girls who has to remind myself to continue to move forward and look for the best, whether things are perfect or not. I stop, take a moment to reflect and remember that my reactions will have a huge outcome on whether or not I allow situations to break me or make me wiser and stronger in Christ. I will lean into Him and into His Word. He keeps me so grounded.

In fact, I kid you not, this just happened as I was typing this blog post right at this very moment, see photo below. I had to take a picture of this and add it into this blog post, because it just fits. This was not planned at all. I would not create this mess on purpose just for attention, lol. As I was typing this post about letting go of being perfect, my little son spilled this big bag of chocolate animal crackers all over the couch, all over the floor and all over the place. He said "Mommy, please don't get mad at me, I spilled all of the cookies all over the place."  I lifted my head from my laptop and just started to smile really big. He looked confused and I had to explain what I am typing about, that nothing is perfect and how, of course, I would not get mad at him for spilling the animal crackers all over. When it comes to some things, we just have to laugh it off or shake it off and let it go. ;)

Below are photos that Amy gave permission to share regarding some great quotes she has added within the photos. You should see if this is a book that you may be interested in and maybe join her study next month. Don't look for perfect in people and situations, instead, learn to find wisdom, love and dance to a graceful tune within the things that come your way. See photos below.

My Homeschooling Ideas.

Hello everyone! I have had a few girls ask me to post some of my homeschooling ideas. Gladly! Homeschooling is such a big part of me and I want to teach my son as much as I can in the best ways that I can. I think most parents have that goal in mind for their child. I will post some of my homeschooling ideas more often. I have a lot of them.

I also enjoy seeing the ideas that others offer on their blogs and Periscope regarding homeschooling as well. As mother's, it's great for us to inspire one another.

One of the ideas that I taught my 4 year old son was how to tell time. I showed him the difference between digital and with actual numbers on clocks with numbers, hands and lines. He learned it so fast. I am so proud of him.

The first thing I did was have him learn and memorize how to count by 5's and then 10's, all the way up to 100. As you will see below, I wrote down an example of how to count by 5's and 10's on paper for him and let him memorize it.  He memorized it right away all the way up to 100.

This was so easy for him to understand and it stuck with him. I made it very simple. A marker and paper is all you need. I also put it in a place where he would see it all day and I made sure he looked at it during the day as well. I also counted it out for him in a beat by clapping my hands in a rhythm. For some reason, I think learning things with a beat or in the form of a song helps everyone memorize so much easier. Make it fun. Whatever works, right!?

Below are photos of the clocks that I used to teach him as well. Once he learned how to count by 5's, I let him see and I explained the different types of clocks and watches to him.

The first colorful kids clock below is so cute and fun. It talks and you can either do a free play type of learning where the clock will tell you what time you moved the hands to on your own or you can move the switch and the clock will quiz you. When you do the quiz, the clocks voice will say a time and you have to set the hands of the clock to the time she asks.  The white plastic on the top of the clocks head is actually a light. You push it once and it turns on and then, if you push it again, it will shut the light off. The tiny little numbers next to the big numbers count by 5's. As you can see in the photos below, there is also a digital reading for the time as well. The clock is about 8 x 10 in size.

The next photo below is a huge clock that we actually have hanging in our living room. My son knows how to read the time on this clock as well.  I explained how to count by 5's per each number.

Next, for motor skills and for something fun for us to create and share together, I bought beads and ties at the dollar store. We both sat down and made bead bracelets together. He is a pro! I just allowed him to be creative and have fun as you will see in the photos below. I also made myself a pretty pink mommy bracelet. Both of us kept them and I will always keep them. It's a mommy thing! :)

So, there you go! I hope you enjoy these ideas and that they may be helpful to you.

Thanks for stopping by.

Love, Cindy  :)

Hello Fall!

Hello Fall!... and hello to you, too!  I have been taking a break from blogging and Instagram for the past few months. It felt so nice and so very refreshing. I really needed the break. I adore and miss blogging a lot. I am going to continue to blog a little more, but I am not sure how much. I guess time will tell. I am so busy these days, a good busy, and I have been working on other goals for myself as well. I have also been concentrating on being the best wife and mommy that I can be, I am homeschooling my son, and I have really been trying to focus on Jesus, His word and His direction every day. My husband, son and I are all doing great. I am so very thankful for all of my blessings. I make sure to count them and thank Jesus for them all of the time.

When I first started my blog a year ago, I had it set in my heart and mind to do a blog for and about Jesus and His word. Little by little, I lost track of that and my blog became more about me. I mean, I still want to share my life too, and share the things that I am interested in, but in a different way this time. I want to stick to encouraging others about Christ as much as I can. Even if I am able to encourage just one person on this earth for God and His word, I know that I can look my Jesus into His eyes when we stand face to face and know that I did what He has asked me to do. There are so many things that I really want to do for Him.

He created me for HIS purpose and not my own. I lost track of that and eventually, my blog and Instagram felt wrong. It felt completely off and I was not at peace with it anymore, nor with myself for that matter.  It was all so new to me. So, with the strong tugging in my heart from God, I stepped back, and I asked Him every single day for His guidance, direction, wisdom and discernment. I still do and I still take the time to listen to and for Him. We need to listen for His gentle whisper.

It is amazing how we can allow a little light to shine onto us and think it's all about us.  I forgot how I needed to allow HIS light to shine THROUGH me and encourage others WITH Him, not by myself.

Psalm 23:1-3 ~ "The Lord is my Shepard, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for HIS name's sake."

Romans 8:28 ~ "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to HIS purpose."

2 Timothy 1:9 ~ "He has saved us and called us to a holy life, NOT because of anything we have done, but because of HIS own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time."

It's all about Him and I am proud to give all of the credit to my God. I am so aware of how much I need Him. I know when to STOP and take the time to be refreshed in Him and His word.

So, with that said, blogging is still very dear to my heart. I have made some really cool friends through blogging and some that I have grown close to. That is a blessing that I thank God for. Also, I removed all of my previous posts for a few reasons. I wanted to start fresh and have my blog reflect more on Jesus and the Bible.

Like everyone else, I am excited that Fall and Autumn are here again and it is such a beautiful time of year. There is so much fun stuff to look forward to with decorating, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love it all. And like I always used to mention in all of my previous posts when I used to blog, always make sure to take the time to look for and count your blessings from God every single day. Focus on Him, His word and the blessings that He has placed right in front of you. They are there. So is He. He gives us so much to be thankful for.

Love, Cindy

There is a right time and season for everything.  I have been taking a break from my blog to focus on quality time with family and also, working on other goals right now. When the time is right, I will blog again. Until then . . .
